Lucidchart is entirely browser-based, running on browsers that support HTML5.This means it does not require plugins or updates of a third-party software like Adobe Flash. The platform supports real-time collaboration, allowing all users to work simultaneously on projects and see each user’s additions reflected in real time. All data is encrypted and stored in secure data centers.

A drag-and-drop interface

Real-time co-authoring, shape-specific comments, and collaborative cursors

Data linking

Auto-visualization to generate org charts and ERDs

SQL import and export capabilities

Lucidchart also supports importing files from draw.io, Gliffy, OmniGraffle, and Microsoft Visio. The platform is integrated with Google Workspace and Drive, Microsoft Teams and other Office products, Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, Salesforce, GitHub, Slack, and others.Lucidchart is a web-based diagramming application that allows users to visually collaborate on drawing, revising and sharing charts and diagrams, and improve processes, systems, and organizational structures. It is produced by Lucid Software Inc., based in Utah, United States and co-founded by Ben Dilts and Karl Sun. Lucidchart is used by companies such as Google, GE, NBC Universal, and Amazon.

A big one is integration with Salesforce, which is available to anyone who uses Lucidchart, even free account holders. You can connect the two apps to pull in information about Salesforce Contacts. It has two-way syncing, so any changes you make in one app syncs to the other. Lucidchart Enterprise members get additional features, such as being able to create new contacts from Lucidchart, and support for additional Salesforce data, such as Account, Opportunity, Leads, and Custom Objects.Speaking of integrations, you can connect Lucidchart to other business apps such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub, to use data stored in them in your diagrams, too. These integrations require a paid account, however. The purpose is to create live diagrams that update in real time and therefore have value beyond being illustrative. So for example, a sales team could pull in data from Salesforce, make a diagram with it in Lucidchart, and send it to a file in a Microsoft app (you can connect to Microsoft Office apps, too), where it's shared in Teams and everyone can see it.

In January 2011, Lucid Software Inc. was incorporated in Delaware through the conversion of Lucidchart, LLC, a Utah limited liability company formed in April 2009.In 2010, Lucid announced that it had integrated Lucidchart into the Google Apps Marketplace.

In 2011, Lucid raised $1 million in seed funding from 500 Startups, 2M Companies, K9 Ventures, and several angel investors

On October 17, 2018, Lucid announced it had raised an additional $72 million from Meritech Capital, Spectrum Equity and ICONIQ Capital.Collaboration :Work side by side when you can’t be face to face. Turn hybrid meetings into productive working sessions.Clarity visualize complex problems so you can quickly see how to solve them. Easily compare present and future states.Alignment:Accelerate projects with a shared visual language. Get your team on the same page and focus on how to get the job done.

Businesses around the world are under immense pressure to adopt digital technologies that alter how work gets done, what gets built, and how they support customers.

In order to make agile, impactful changes, companies must cut through the clutter, complexity, and confusion of the current state of their business. Otherwise, you’ll be inundated with roadblocks that make it impossible to innovate at the speed and with the quality necessary to stay relevant—and competitive—in today’s markets.

In 2010, Ben Dilts and Karl Sun launched Lucidchart, the first Lucid product aimed at end-to-end visual collaboration. Lucid has quickly responded to market needs and grown into the only visual collaboration suite on the market, helping teams look to—and innovate for—the future. As founders of Lucid and Karl are the only names in this story. But they’ll be the first to tell you this isn’t about them. This is much bigger, and we’re just getting started.

Diagramming makes it easier to share and understand ideas, information, and processes, which is something that most people find themselves doing a lot when they're at work. When you use diagrams to work visually, you can find new ways to connect the dots.

What’s the ROI of connecting the dots? We’ve surveyed hundreds of users to understand what people gain from using diagrams in various roles throughout a company. To name a few key benefits, people who use Lucidchart to diagram on average:

Innovate 40% faster.

Increase productivity by 38%.

Save an average of 2.9 hours per week when they’re collaborating with others.

When you innovate faster and you are more productive, you save the company time and money and find new ways to solve tough problems.
