How to Install Android Studio

Before you begin this, download & install Android Studio  

Windows Installation Steps

To install Android Studio on Windows, continue as follows:
  1. Launch the  ".exe"  application you downloaded.
  2. Follow the setup wizard to install Android Studio and any important SDK tools.

Windows System Requirements

  • Microsoft® Windows® 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit)
  • 3 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended; plus 1 GB for the Android Emulator
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum, 4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

Linux Installation Steps

To install Android Studio on Linux, proceed as follows:
  1. Unpack the .zip file you downloaded to a proper location for your applications, such as within /usr/local/ for your user profile, or /opt/ for shared users.
  2. To launch Android Studio, open a terminal, navigate to the android-studio/bin/ directory, and execute studio.sh.
  3. Select whether you want to import previous Android Studio settings or not, then click OK.
  4. The Android Studio Setup Wizard guides you though the rest of the setup, which includes downloading Android SDK components that are required for development.

Tip: To make Android Studio ready in your list of applications, select Tools -> Create Desktop Entry from the Android Studio menu bar.

Required libraries for 64-bit machines: If you are running a 64-bit version of Ubuntu, you need to install some 32-bit libraries with the following command:
sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386 lib32z1 libbz2-1.0:i386
If you are running 64-bit Fedora, the command is:
sudo yum install zlib.i686 ncurses-libs.i686 bzip2-libs.i686

Linux System Requirements

  • GNOME or KDE desktopTested on Ubuntu® 14.04 LTS, Trusty Tahr (64-bit distribution capable of running 32-bit applications)
  • 64-bit distribution capable of running 32-bit applications
  • GNU C Library (glibc) 2.19 or later
  • 3 GB minimum RAM, 8 GB RAM recommended; plus 1 GB for Emulator
  • 2 GB of available disk space minimum, 4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

Mac Installation Steps

To install Android Studio on Mac, continue as follows:
  1. Launch the Android Studio DMG file.
  2. Drag and drop Android Studio into the Applications folder, then launch Android Studio.
  3. Select whether you want to import previous Android Studio settings, then click OK.
  4. The Android Studio Setup Wizard guides you through the rest of the setup, which involves downloading Android SDK components that are required for development.

Mac System Requirements

  • Mac® OS X® 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher, up to 10.13 (macOS High Sierra)
  • 3 GB minimum RAM, 8 GB RAM recommended; plus 1 GB for Emulator
  • 2 GB of unused disk space minimum, 4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution.
