When we plan a trip to Europe, we first think of cities like London, France, Rome. But I want to talk about some stunning cities across Eastern Europe. Have you heard about Prague , Budapest and Dubrovnik ? They are not yet heavily visited by tourist but are becoming the new hotspots in Europe. I planned a visit to  Prague , Budapest & Dubrovnik along with my family in June 2019.

Prague : The City of a Hundred Spires

Prague, capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, is bisected by the Vltava River. It has a population of 1.3 million people. It is Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires,” due to large number of spires & towers present in the city.

I visited the Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colourful baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show. The pedestrian Charles Bridge is lined with statues of Catholic saints. It offers breathtaking views and lively activity along the Vltava River. I visited several pubs to savour world-class brews and traditional Czech cuisine. Beer is cheaper than water so it gives you a reason to drink more beer than water!

Budapest : The Pearl of the Danube

Budapest is the capital and most populous city of Hungary. It is the 9th largest city in the European Union by population within city limits and the largest city on the Danube river; the city has an estimated population of 1.7 million. Buda and Pest, two cities separated by river Danube eventually became Budapest in 1871.

I visited the Hungarian Parliament Building which is a magnificent symbol of Budapest's architectural grandeur, with its stunning Neo-Gothic design and intricate detailing. The fisherman’s Bastion is a fairytale-like structure atop Castle Hill in Buda, featuring seven towers representing the seven Hungarian tribes that settled the area. The St Stephens Basilica domed silhouette & the iconic Chain Bridge unite Buda and Pest, encompass Budapest's beauty and history. I decided to relax my travel-stiff muscles and spent the entire day in the popular thermal bath.

Dubrovnik- The Pearl of the Adriatic.

Dubrovnik, is a city in southern Dalmatia, Croatia, by the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, a seaport and the centre of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County

The best places I visited are Adratic Sea & city walls.  The stunning Adriatic Sea frames Dubrovnik's ancient walls, blending history and natural beauty into a breathtaking panorama. The Old Town Dubrovnik's UNESCO-listed Old Town is a maze of cobblestone streets, adorned with centuries-old architecture, inviting exploration and discovery at every turn. Veering off the main paths reveals hidden gems in Dubrovnik's side streets, where local life thrives amidst charming cafes, artisan shops, and glimpses of everyday Croatian culture.

Summing Up:

So, whether you're a history buff, an adventure seeker, or simply in search of beauty and tranquillity, a journey through Prague, Budapest, and Croatia is sure to leave you with cherished memories that last a lifetime.
